Churba, Parent Publicity Volunteer The Franciscan Cre-Act School will present two public presentations for their Annual Play Production: the first will be Friday, May 15th at 7:00 pm and a Matinee Performance will be Saturday May 23rd at 1:30 pm. This year's play is Jacky’s Magical Beanstalk, the hilarious retelling of the familiar story of Jack and the Beanstalk...with a twist. Director Teresa Norvick promises a good show and an opportunity for the whole family to see the area’s brightest young performers at their best. Cre-Act School is the only applied creativity based, continuously running, children's educational program in the state. Performances will take place at Idaho State Universities’ Frazier Auditorium, 921 South 8th Avenue. Tickets will be available at the performance or can be purchased beforehand at the school. *Family Fun Day at Ross Park This year’s event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13 in Ross Park, in front of and behind the band shell. · April 7th – Parent meeting at 6:30p.m. · Week of April 13th- I.R.I.'s and beginning of I.S.A.T. Testing. · Time off to celebrate the Easter Season- April 9, 10 and 13. · April 14, 15, 16th Sister Janice will be in Boise to give presentations to the Serve Idaho State Commission and State Department of Education Title I Conference. · April 17 to 24th, Sister Janice will be in Connecticut for meetings. - March 7th- Chair-ity Auction at Ramada Inn- This is a very IMPORTANT fundraiser.
Would you like to find unique treasures, eat a great meal and also help support Southeast Idaho’s only non-profit, Performing Arts Based Elementary School? The Franciscan Cre-Act School's "Chair"-ity Auction event will include over 25 themed chairs with fantastic items from local businesses and organizations to be auctioned off to the highest bidders. New this year will be separate activities, dinner and fun for children ages 4-12. The event takes place the evening of Saturday, March 7th. Viewing, door prize giveaways, and dinner begin at 5:00 pm followed by the live auction at 7:00 pm at the Ramada Inn, 133 West Burnside, Chubbuck. Cost is $15 per person (children ages 4-12 are $5 each), with proceeds being used to purchase supplies and materials for the school where the guiding educational philosophy places a strong emphasis on the performing arts. The school holds two major fundraisers per year with the Chair-ity Auction being one and our full length play being the second. Master Card and Visa will be accepted. The Franciscan Cre-Act School presented a Matinee Performance of Jacky's Magical Beanstalk Saturday May 23rd at 1:30 pm. The show was family friendly and of professional caliber. Local theatrical Director Teresa Norvick has worked with the students since February to create the performance. Mother Dorothy Prokes, FSE, creator of the School, was on hand after the performance to sign her published book about the school and the curriculum. The performance took place at Idaho State University Frazier Auditorium, Corner of Carter Street and South Fifth Avenue. Tickets were available at the performance or could be purchased before hand at the school. Adult tickets were $7.00, Senior tickets were $5.00 and Children’s tickets were $3.00. The Franciscan Cre-Act School is the only applied creativity-based, continuously running, children's elementary educational program in the state. The Cre-Act School Students along with area schools and home school children (280 are scheduled to participate) gathered together to take part in the 24th Annual Speech Festival on Tuesday, November 4th. The speech contest ran from approximately 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. The Franciscan Cre-Act School is located at 526 South Grant Avenue, (Corner of West Benton and South Grant Streets). This event brought the Franciscan Cre-Act (Creative-Acting) School student body together with other area school students for an enriched learning experience and to learn first hand about the power of speech and concentration. The Franciscan Cre-Act (Creative-Acting) School Community has again combined their talents and efforts to produce a full length, family-friendly play. This year’s production is a sweet adaptation of the childhood classic by A.A. Milne: The House at Pooh Corner. The children will present the story of a Christopher Robin and his friends from the Hundred Acre Woods and their adventures. This year there will be an evening performance on Saturday, April 19th at 7:00 pm and a Matinee performance Saturday April 26th at 1:30 pm. The performances will take place at Idaho State Universities’ Frazier Auditorium, 921 South 8th Avenue. Tickets will be available at the performance or can be purchased beforehand at the school. The final day for registration for 2008-2009 school year is: Friday, April 11, 2008. The Franciscan Cre-Act (Creative-Acting) School is accepting pre-registration for the 2008/2009 school year in the Preschool and all day Kindergarten through Fifth Grades. Children must be age 4 or 5 by September 1st to enroll. The Franciscan Cre-Act Elementary School is operated by the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. It is interdenominational, non-profit and places a strong emphasis on the visual and performing arts, with a focus on learned creativity. Arwen’s dad is featured in the movies! The film documentary “River Webs” will be shown for 1 night only at the ISU Theater located in the Pond Student Union building. This is a brand new film which features the research of Dr. Colden Baxter and fellow River Ecologists in Japan. Dr. Baxter is Arwen’s father. The film has received international recognition and awards. It is beautifully filmed and contains some amazing under water footage. Come and support the Baxter family by viewing this family appropriate documentary on Wednesday, January 30th at 7:00p.m. All proceeds benefit the ISU student chapter of the American Fisheries Society. Admission is: $2.00 general public. $1.00 for kids, FREE to ISU students.
Report cards will be out by the 25th of January. The I.R.I. (Idaho Reading Indicator) will be taken within the next two weeks. This will involve kindergarten, grades 1, 2, and 3.
Play: Casting has been completed!. The children are beginning to work on the props. Sister Paul Mary will direct the play. Lenny Baxter will be in charge of the props and will assist.
January 17th- Parent’s Meeting at 6:45p.m. at school. This won’t be a long meeting. We do need parents present.

Cre-Act’s After Christmas Party
*The “After Christmas” family school party was on Thursday, January 10th at 6:30p.m. at the school. All families were asked to provide a potluck item for dinner. There was a sign up sheet on the bulletin board next to the office.
Menu was: Hot dish, Salads, Relishes, Rolls/Butter and Dessert.
*Dec. 7th- 8:30a.m. A parent explained the Jewish Feast of Hanukkah. *Dec. 6th- Thursday- 9:00a.m. -12:00p.m. St. Nicholas Day. Everyone had a great time and made such wonderful things. St. Nicholas even snuck candy into the shoes that were left outside the classrooms. *Area-Wide Speech Festival to take place at Cre-Act School November 6th

*Local Cre-Act (Creative Acting) School to Hold Sixth Annual Fundraiser at Juniper Hills Country Club on October 27th.
Pocatello: The Franciscan Cre-Act (Creative-Acting) School is encouraging everyone to “Take their seat” in the sixth annual Chair-ity Auction. There will be over 25 themed chairs with fantastic items from local businesses and organizations that will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. This year the event will be held Saturday, October 27th with viewing, door prize giveaways along with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments starting at 5:00 pm followed by the live auction beginning at 7:00 pm at the Juniper Hills Country Club, 6600 South Bannock Highway in Pocatello. Cost is $15 per person with proceeds being used to purchase math and science materials for the school where “learning with all of one’s being – the physical body, the mind, the senses, the imagination, the emotions and the power of speech and concentration” is the guiding educational philosophy. *PARENTS BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: Back to School Night will be Thursday, September 13th. Open House- 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Light refreshments- This is a chance to meet and talk with the teachers and other parents. Meeting- 7:00p.m.- You will receive Parent Handbook, School Calendar for the year, and other important forms and information.
Child Care will be provided here at school for your children during this meeting. *The Franciscan Cre-Act School declares this year’s school wide theme to be Stewardship. The students will focus on different aspects of this theme throughout the year. Students will look at characters from different stories and people from ancient civilizations and will discover if they were stewards and how they were stewards and what gifts they gave in the process.

ISU Students taught the Cre-Act Students about back pack safety. Read press release here. Summer Office Hours: Monday thru Friday 9:30a.m. -2:00p.m. Someone will be at the school during this time if you need anything. If you need to reach us after hours call 233-7462.
SUMMER LABOR NEEDED: If you have any time, even an hour or so, to help with any of this it will be appreciated. • The outside lawn is going to need some help. The water hasn’t been turned on because of broken pipes. These are presently getting fixed. We will need someone to mow using our riding lawn mower. • Preschool will move to what is presently the Music Room. The Music Room will move back into the Drama Room. The Math and Science Rooms and the Computer Room moved to the 2nd floor. The Office and the Kindergarten Room will remain on the 1st Floor.
Supply List: Supply lists for the school year will be mailed to the parents who have registered early July.
Parents: Please have your children spend time reading each day and doing a little math. There are lots of books out there. Make use of the library.
