It was a moment six years in the making and finally, after much encouragement and spiritual guidance, anyone in the world can read up on a unique teaching method that derived from right here in South East Idaho.
Cre-Act may be a local, private elementary school in Pocatello but the underlying concept is something colleges and universities across the nation want to get in on.
The entire school's performance of "Jacky's Magical Beanstock" truly is magical. Drama, the traditional theatrical type of drama, is what thrusts this curriculum into the spotlight.
Dorothy Prokes, Published Author, Educator: "We are composed of body and soul and mind. You can't just read or write or talk, what we learn has to become a part of ourselves, our total body being."
Her vision is passed on to the students, whether they know it or not.
Ally, Student: "Me and the giant, he was laying on the ground and my foot was on him and I was stinging him. It was my favorite part of the play because he's afraid of bees."
Besides gaining the ability of being creative, students also learn some skills they just might need later on in life.
Katie, Student: "A few years ago, I would have been afraid to go up to talk to someone without someone behind me and now I feel like I can just go up to somebody."
Megan, Student: "I'm more confident, it helps you with your speech, people can hear you better."
Becky, Students: "I've really enjoyed it because in public schools I never really had many friends."
Dorothy Prokes, Published Author, Educator: "To be able to share with the world at large something that I've thought about and lived with is a real blessing."
